20+ Program Directors are seeking friendly and dependable office help.
Computer literacy, general office experience, and ability to help out once a

RSVP is a part of the National Senior Corps. RSVP Volunteers address
Community Needs in the areas of Education and Literacy, Homeland Security &
Community Safety, Human Services, and the Environment. RSVP volunteers are
covered by supplemental insurance; they work with a job description, receive
orientation and on-the-job training.
Friendly Visitor Program.
This well established
volunteer project, now under the RSVP wing, cooperates with
Telephone Reassurance. As a Friendly Visitor, you will be
introduced to your senior client for regular visits and/or outings.
Clients and volunteers are screened and qualified. Friendly
Visitor volunteers authorize a background check and attend a brief
training/orientation before client match-up. Prepare monthly
mailings to volunteers in the field.
VITA -- Volunteer
Income Tax Assistance,
an important program
within Department of Aging. VITA Volunteers bring tax preparation
experience to this demanding job. They begin every January by
reviewing and updating their skills. From February - April they
work in one of our seven senior centers, assisting individuals to
file their simple tax returns. VITA volunteers use IRS computers
to e-file most returns. RSVP welcomes queries from VITA
volunteers year round.
Telephone Reassurance.
Now in our
20th year! Volunteers in teams of
two work from our Glen Burnie office, do telephone check-in daily with
senior clients across Anne Arundel County. We save lives! This is a very
rewarding experience for clients and volunteers alike! Schedules available
one or two days per month. Need is immediate!
Senior Center Plus.
Volunteer at one of our 7 senior centers. Assist the most
frail elderly as they engage in conversation, crafts, and other
center activities. Greatest need: M-Th 9:00-2:00. An
excellent opportunity to interact with our senior citizens.
Meals on Wheels: Urgent need for volunteers in several capacities. Be a
driver, a meal deliverer, or a packer. Volunteers are assigned to a regular
schedule to deliver meals to citizens who are homebound. Opportunities in all
areas of the county.
MD Environmental Trust: Assist with coordination and management of
volunteers monitoring easement properties in MD to ensure compliance with land
preservation agreements. Interest in environment, photography, working with
people. Flex hours 8-16 per week. Crownsville.
School Volunteers: Many elementary schools in the county have expressed
the need for volunteers to assist with tutoring children - one on one, or small
groups. You could volunteer at a local school near you. All areas of the
county.
Other Programs
FEAST - Type monthly calendars, assist across county with special
events.
Senior Nutrition - Data entry, filing, any day but Wednesday 3-4
hours/week.
Senior Info and Assistance - Data entry, Tues. Thurs, 2-4 hours.
SHIP - Counsel Medicare beneficiaries. Relevant experience
useful. Extensive training and in-service education required. M-F mornings.
